  Endoscope Channel Ventilation

  

  The channel ventilation system produces a flow of HEPA-filtered air to facilitate the internal drying of the endoscope channels and help prevent bacterial proliferation.

  The constant flow of air from top to bottom in the channels is accentuated when the endoscope is placed in the cabinet and then continues cyclically throughout the storage period. The HEPA air filtered ventilation feeding the channels is dedicated and independent of that in the cabinet chamber, which help dry the outside of the endoscopes. This additional measure is designed to enhance patient safety by reducing the risk of cross-contamination. 

  • The cabinet chamber is fitted with quick connectors that allow the tube sets to be connected or disconnected instantly.

  • Tubing traceability is also available on request.

  Medical Industry Guidelines & Standards

  The Public Health Agency of Canada recommends the following:

  Flexible endoscopes should be stored in a designated cabinet with a door, in a manner that prevents recontamination or dammage. P. 47 

  Storage cabinets should be designed to allow scopes to be stored in the vertical uncoiled position to facilitate drying. P.48

  With regard to storage, provide ventilated cabinets equipped with a high-efficiency filter for air particles, depending on the number and types of endoscope used. P.33
